4th Quarter NFDOI Banner

My Optimist Friends,

Attached is your 4th Quarter Banner. Hope you enjoy it and encounter very few errors!

Within the next few days, I will also send you some information on the "First Friday Street Party" in St. Pete that will be held during our conference on August 6th. Should be an incredible event. Details coming
soon!!

Alas, my tenure as your Banner editor has come to a close. I leave this position in the more than capable hands of Emily Hope from Fernandina Beach. Governor-elect Daniel Rich and Emily have vowed to continue to expand the
email list and hopefully more of our membership will enroll in the "Save some of those trees for birds" campaign.

I would especially like to thank Carol-Ann Price (club 60680), Jack Holland (club 60420), Chuck Krieger(clubs 60684 and 60340), Kathy DeLoach(club 60144), and John Alter (club 60700) who took it upon themselves to lighten my load by religiously forwarding the Banner to the members of their clubs. With their help, about one/third of our members now receive the email version instead of the snail-mail version. A big savings to the NFL District.

A big thanks also goes to Gov Ric and Past Gov Perry for getting not only their articles in on time but getting their chairpeople to contribute as well.

The biggest thanks goes to Ken Ritter. Without his expertise, his willingness to give of his time and money, and most of all the use of his "Publisher" software, our product would not have been a high quality product that we strived for each time.

Last Meeting 6/21/10: We had 9 members attend. It was a general meeting as no guest speaker was scheduled. Richard Friedman gave a recap of the WHHS scholarship presentation. He suggested in the future that we prepare a short synopsis of the biography behind scholarship namesake to be read at the awards ceremony. Jeanne Thompson reported that the NOW Dinner had been scheduled for August 9th at the Wellington Apts (Barbara Westfall’s facility). Jeanne reminded the group that there would be no meeting on July 5, 2010 because of the holiday.

It was announced that our members Matt Greene and Stephanie Jackson are now engaged with a wedding date in September, 2010 (exact date to be published later). We congratulate each in their upcoming nuptials

50/50 NON-Winner was Greg Mills.
